– Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Mining and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506), which rose 4.15% or 135.0 points to trade at 3385.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) added 3.57% or 10.0 points to end at 290.0 and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T:5002) was up 2.98% or 49.0 points to 1696.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103), which fell 2.09% or 9.0 points to trade at 422.0 at the close. T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) declined 2.01% or 24.0 points to end at 1173.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) was down 1.76% or 60.0 points to 3350.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2211 to 1297 and 216 ended unchanged.
Shares in Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.09% or 9.0 to 422.0. Shares in T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.01% or 24.0 to 1173.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.17% to 16.99.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.44% or 0.26 to $58.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.52% or 0.35 to hit $67.58 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.60% or 7.75 to trade at $1302.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 111.71, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 126.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 96.607.
